ABOUT CAMP RUSSELL

When Samuel T. Russell made his initial gift of land in 1918, he started a tradition that has lasted more than 80 years.  From an idea, Camp Russell has become one of the premier camps in the country camping more than 1000 youth each summer from communities all throughout the East.  Scouts live in two boy wall tents, except for a few who are in lean-tos.  Cots and Mattresses are provided.  Each site has latrine and wash stand facilities.  The camp has a central shower facility.

THE PROGRAM

Camp Russell offers a full Trail to First Class experience.  Our conservation and forestry area has won national awards.  A wide range of merit badges in aquatics, conservation, scoutcraft, shooting sports, handicraft and individual troop programming are offered.  Troops can plan group water polo or volleyball, shooting trap, 22 rifle, campfires and more….

THE FOOD

Meals are served in the dining hall except one day where meals are prepared in the unit site  Dining hall program is full of songs, cheers and program that will round out all of the great meals.

HIGH ADVENTURE

The Adirondacks is a splendor of water ways and trails leading to areas that only the imagination can limit.  From base camp we will drop your crew at a trail head or water put in of your choice.  Our high adventure guide specifically designed for your leadership outlines the many treks available.  Voyageur guides will assist your troop to meet their high adventure challenges and offer some Adirondack lore to add to this memorable experience.  On your trek, we provide a special time-tested menu combining trail food and retail food for nutritionally balanced and easy to prepare meals.

FUN

Hey, it's not all work at Camp Russell. Part of the fun is laughing with your friends at a campfire, enjoying a break at the trading post, playing in a friendly game, or cheering on a friend as he competes in the water carnival events.  Camp Russell is more than a week away from home, it's FUN, don't miss the ADVENTURE!
